United Left and whining, whinging sour grape losers

You’ve probably heard the Aussie term “whining poms”? Now in London UNISON, we are blessed to have a Brit (or rather Brighton?) equivalent. The renowned red baiter, united trot maharishi and serial election loser has decided to whine and whinge about the inability of the disorganised “angry” middle aged men (and token angry women) to win any of the lay London regional council officer posts or a majority of the lay regional committee posts.

In London, real lay activists have got together and worked very hard to organise the forces of “light and reason” to win democratic internal union elections.

Whinge a-lot, of course takes no personal responsibility for the failure to even field a full set of trot candidates in last year’s regional committee elections. Instead this whining loser prefers the comfort blanket of blaming anyone and everyone for his mob’s failure to win such democratic elections. Except himself or his motley crew?

Look, as far as I am concerned, anyone can legitimately argue against a particular decision made by the regional committee, but to just slag off the whole internal union democratic structure just because you lost the elections is just plain low and even contemptible. But its not surprising. Just very, very sad.

if they call a strike and dont get 50% on strike their branch should be closed down by national

At least you would end up like us in Scotland with over 50% out

I hear you lot were lucky to get 10%

F*** you!

On the head of the nail as usual, John.

I think the problem in some ways is that Jon Rogers knows he is actually quite a talented and personable chap. As a result his ego can't bear the idea that the masses don't flock to his banner.

And he knows that his 'comrades' are simply below par when it comes to organising what he wants. Plenty of energy, sure, but little in the way of any robust intellectual capability. But, of course, he can't complain about them, so he engages in displacement carping.

To be fair, it must be immensely frustrating for him to have such grand visions and know that he will never see them come to fruition.

His rejoinder to that would no doubt be that someone has to keep the torch aloft and alight and he is the man for the job.

Which is, of course, simply enormous hubris.

And yet he could have made a positive difference. Such a waste.

It looks to me as if the anonymous swearer is intent on underlining Andrew's point about the intellectual capacity of Mr. Roger's acolytes!

(For surely he wouldn't stoop so low as to leave an anonymous comment on your blog?)

Keep up the good work.

Serial election loser? isnt he on UNISON's NEC. Clearly he always wins the elections for that seat where ordinary members vote in the thousands for him but yet he doesnt get voted in when its down to 300 members at the regional council could it be that the careerist lay leadership are far removed from the politics of the members and the paid help have more control over those elections?

No that couldnt possibly be it.

Do i detect a hint of jealousy here Mr Gray? you seem a bit obsessed by him.

How many turned out for the Lambeth march
on the last strike day

how many thousand ?????

or was it a couple of hundred

When you turn out your own branch then we will listen

Anonymous said...

They simply cannot stand losing

they represent a minority

their political parties get 2% of the vote

we probably have more UKIP supporters in the union then Trots

yet we have to listen to their pie in the sky meeting after meeting

We are now told it nolonger matters if you cannot get your own members out on strike...you should vote for strike action because its a great experience

These ex public school revolutionaries are justs taking the piss out of the working class
and then when they get bored they move on or down shift to the coast

I dont understand why Rogers goes along with the ultra left rubbish

he knows its rubbish

as we know he can make important contributions, but his support for strikes and national demos on ever occassion totally devalues his contribution

He knows that most councils in London failed to get 25% of their own members out

That is a failure in leadership at a local level as much as anywhere else

At my branch meetings we try and have a realistic discussion on the dispute

we were right to go on Pensions, but the members are saying load and clear we cannot afford to lose money on a wasted strike like the London weighting dispute mess

Dear anonymous, obviously the event that took place over the summer has clearly not mellowed you.

I think some people have a problem with the black leadership in UNISON

Anonymous said...

yeah

Black members are ok for voting, but not holding senior office

how often do they stand a white middle aged male

At our London health seminar over 50% of the delegetes were black

compared to other service groups, who seem to be one colour

Hi,I for one don't care if the leadership is black or white in unison. All i need is trust and strong leadership black or white and that IT. Why so many anonymous what points you make you lose because of it. Andrew i hope not.Mr anon what about Bill Morris I've met Bill twice what a great bloke he never spoke about black or white just about the working class and the OAP of this country what we should be doing to help.

Anonymous said...

Not a problem with the black leadership. Just a problem with the leadership more specifically the lack of leadership from those in the control of the london region.
Including the owner of this blog who happens to be a white middle aged male!

of course he is a loser. he came poor 3rd in the general secretary election despite united left support and is unable to win labour links elections. he admits that the turnout in the unison nec elections is so low that he has no political mandate from the tiny amount of members who vote.

how many united left London local government branch secretaries are Black and or Female???? None

I tell you what; if this is the standard of the blogs created by reps in local govt, it's the first time I've EVER said this, but I'm so glad I'm not in your Service Group!!
Talk about navel-gazing, when the world around you is falling apart!!

Your award winning blog is excellent

the trots cannot take it (the few that have not been expelled)

Did you sign the petition to stop the witch hunt in the SWP

Lets see how many black candidates the Trots stand for key leadership roles in the region

and just how many branch secretaries are white men in London

just cannot take black members getting organsied

poor John - you imply and your defenders state that Jon is a "trot" - a great catch-all bit of abuse. Of course as you well know he is a Labour Party member of long standing. It's no good pretending the London UNISON election results are the result of the views of the wider membership when we all know about the massive interference by paid staff who are supposed to be neutral.

Anonymous said...

why so many anon posts? because of the attitude of the UNISON officials who will make your life hell if they think you might undermine their power base!

Anonymous said...

the photo of Alan Partridge does look a lot like you, John, but I'd rather not see it thanks

Anonymous said...

this blog is written by a guy who left the Lib Dems to join Labour in order to SUPPORT the war in Iraq! So his credibility is rather below nil...

Anonymous said...

why so many anon posts? more likely SWP trot branch thugs and yobs who will physically make your life a misery if you stand up to them has something to do with it

If

If you can keep your head when all about you

Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;

If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,

But make allowance for their doubting too:

If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,

Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,

Or being hated don't give way to hating,

And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream---and not make dreams your master;

If you can think---and not make thoughts your aim,

If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster

And treat those two impostors just the same:.

If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken

Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,

Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,

And stoop and build'em up with worn-out tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings

And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,

And lose, and start again at your beginnings,

And never breathe a word about your loss:

If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew

To serve your turn long after they are gone,

And so hold on when there is nothing in you

Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,

Or walk with Kings---nor lose the common touch,

If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,

If all men count with you, but none too much:

If you can fill the unforgiving minute

With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,

Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,

And---which is more---you'll be a Man, my son!

Rudyard Kipling
